Of course, there are plenty of charter boats in the harbor that are available for offshore fishing trips, whale watching and trips to the Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary. As you're planning your day at the Channel Island Harbor, here are just a few of our staff favorites for your consideration:
Channel Islands Harbor Farmers Market - 3600 S. Harbor Blvd.
This farmer's market is a favorite of the locals, and happens on Sundays from 10am to 2pm. You'll find fresh local fruits and veggies, cut flowers, locally caught seafood, artisanal bakery items and one-of-a-kind arts and crafts.
California Strawberry Festival - Strawberry Meadows of College Park
An annual event that occurs the third weekend of May, the California Strawberry Festival is just a stone's throw from our hotel. Get a real taste of local flavor with unusual recipes, contests and celebrations, all in homage to everyone's favorite fruit.
Bill of Rights - Docked behind Marine Emporium Landing
This tall ship schooner is one of the most stylish ways to see the harbor, to go on a whale watching cruise or to impress someone. Three hours cruises can be scheduled by calling Island Packers at 805-642-1393.
Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary - 11 miles offshore
Leave the bustle and noise of the city behind and experience the pristine beauty that offers hiking, bird-watching, snorkeling, ocean kayaking, history and archeology. Stop by the official Visitors Center at 1901 Spinnaker Drive in Ventura or call 805-658-5730.
Ventura County Maritime Museum - Corner of Channel Islands Blvd & Victoria Ave.
With exhibits that are always changing and a permanent collection that includes works by Dutch and Flemish painters, marine art and historic ship models, this is a must-see part of any visit to Channel Island Harbor.
